My crabitat stays pretty level as far as heat and humidity goes. But, recently, the area I live in has had more warm days than usual. I have a digital thermometer/hydrometer with a probe and an analog one as well. So, I feel that the conditions are pretty accurate. I have been concerned for the last few days though. It has been warmer than normal.... in the low to mid 60's and I have noticed on a couple of occasions that the heat is reading 88. I know 75-80 is ideal. At what point is it too warm and should I be worried? I have two UTHs on the back above the sub. One larger one and one small one. I could unplug the small one if need be. Three out of 4 are buried down including a newly molted crab that has only been up a month. He came up again once but went back down and has remained there. The only once left is my smaller newly molted crab. He seems to be doing fine.

Re: Heat- what becomes dangerous
Considering these crabs come from the Caribbean, and other tropical areas, I personally wouldn't be concerned. As long as your temps don't creep up into the 90's you are fine. I personally have never let my tanks get over 88. When mine did that recently, I discovered it was time to take off all of my insulation. There are thermostats that you can purchase to turn your UTH's on and off if necessary
. Just make sure your humidity is at 80 or above as well.

Thank you! I forgot about removing the insulation. That will be the first thing I do when it gets consistent. I've seen the thermostats you are referring to. I always wondered if they worked. It might be a good idea for me to revisit that option. My humidity is good. Its always 85 or above. This is probably a dumb question, but how much humidity is too much humidity?

Re: Heat- what becomes dangerous
Too much humidity can just make right conditions for mold- can be an issue for you, but not the crabs... just wanted to clarify
