1 vs 2 air pumps?

Post by Kermie16 » Fri Jul 14, 2017 5:56 am

Just noticed in the past few days the humidity in my tank has been dropping, almost daily. I re-calibrated my hygrometer and it is 7 % over normal (before it was only 3% over). I figured turning over the sub would help. All of my guys are above sub right now so I will do that today. But I was also wondering should I hook up 1 bubbler to 1 air pump for each pool vs using the splitter? Would it make a difference? Or I could put in bigger pools. Right now I have the square medium sized Tupperware containers. My tank is 55g. It's weird because the tank stayed stable for several months before we moved. Thoughts or recommendations greatly appreciated ^_^ I will put in pics of my current pools.

I do know that having more surface area on the top of the water can help more water evaporate faster because there are more surface molecules, and more can escape into the air.

You can try the single pump to hose ratio, just be watchful of potential overspraying that can cause more water than you want into the sub.

Hmm I only use a single outlet pump with a t valve reducer/splitter... I don't have any problems with humidity in my tanks. We're experiencing a heat wave here (98+℉ with heat indexes above 106) so our AC has been running a lot. They are known to take humidity out of the air. Do you think this could be your problem??Image

So many possibilities ! Lol! Thanks guys. I am really not sure what the possible cause could be. But, Daws409, you may be right about the AC. I didn't think about that. I have kept press n seal all around the glass top of the tank. Without me doing any spraying today it's fluctuated from 80-87% - humidity seems to be highest in afternoon. I may move on to a larger FW pool though anyway just to change things up a bit in the tank and see if that helps as Tom2433360 mentioned :) Daws, what size pools do u have in ur tank? GB, I didn't even know they have air pumps with dual outlets. Is it similar to having a splitter or like having 2 separate pumps? Have you had any problems with too much spraying with it?

Don't know the exact size without taking them out but they hold about 3/4 gallons of water.
