How to get rid of excess water in substrate?

Hey, so over the years I have had a problem with water. My problem is that whenever I mist the hermits every day and sometimes at night if I feel like it is necessary all the water goes through the Eco Earth and sand mixture to the bottom to the terrarium and creates this muddy, murky, gross puddle of water all along the bottom. I have thought about adding a drainage layer like I do for my FBT's (Fire-Bellied Toads) but then I realized that they would only rip through the garden mesh trying to mold further (as the drainage layer would take up a lot of molting space) and end up in an abyss of clay HydroBalls. I also came with the conflict of if the clay is not safe for hermit crabs or if they would try to eat it and end up with an expanded clay ball in their stomach. I have tried using moss to hold it but every time the moss dries up and shrivels up into little pieces (although that may just be that they like to munch on the moss a lot). So I am thinking of getting a Fogger as it will produce plenty of water vapor to keep the tank humid. I also have problems with humidity and it seems no matter how much I spray it the humidity is always way too low for their liking. About 50 to be exact. I have a lid and everything and it is not in direct sunlight or anywhere near it for that matter so I am just wondering what I can do to solve the drainage problem and the humidity. Just A Suggestion: I put an egg crate frame on the bottom of mine and zip tied screen andplastic needlepoint canvas over the top.
My brother cut a hole at one corner of the egg crate frame and placed a small piece of PVC pipe inside the frame. The pipe has a 1/2 hole at the bottom so that the water can be drained from the tank.
I'm just setting up my tank, so this has not been tested yet. I purchase something every month for the tat. I hope this gives you some ideas.

Are you sure the humidity gauge has been calibrated? in a sealed tank, with EE and moss, its virtually impossible not to have high humidity levels, especially with daily misting. However, even though a humidifer will create humidity, over time water will saturate the substrate, so a way to gauge its effect would be wise.

With no to little water leaving the tank, be leary of how much water is going into the tank, via humidifier, misting, or other.
