Crabitat size and stores

Post by alicrabs2003 » Sun Mar 25, 2018 8:29 pm

I have a 10 gallon tank for my 5 hermit crabs that are each around the size of a dime except for my two medium size ones. I've been doing some research and i was thinking about getting a larger tank. Does anybody know what places or websites sell cheap tanks? I'm thinking about a 20-30 gallon unless you think i should go bigger.

You can try craigslist. Or the apps Letgo and Offerup. In my opinion, bigger is always better since you know the crabs will get bigger.

If you live in a area where they have Petco a they are have a $1 per gallon tank sale. You can get a 20 for $20 then. Also some aquarium shops sells leaker tanks for cheap. Sometimes they are a bit dirty though and need a lot of cleaning!

I agree with Hermiesguardian. Craigslist, OfferUp, Letgo, VarageSale, FB are all places to get a setup for dirt cheap. You can also check out second hand stores. Check tank, aquarium, reptile, terrarium. A lot of times you can get a full setup for a fraction of the cost of a new aquarium. Try to get a glass aquarium. Those are better at holding humidity vs acrylic. :) Good luck!
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

You cpuld also go down the route of using a tote. Its a lot cheaper than a glass tank, requires a bit of modification - drill some holes for air exchange - but not exactly as clear as glass.

WOW!! That's an awesome deal. I thought my 90 gallon with a stand for $200 was a great deal.
