Insulation question

Post by KristenL0522 » Mon Oct 14, 2019 2:15 pm

Hello! Quick question about insulating my tank. I have 2 zoomed heaters that I am using to heat my tank. They were given to me so I’m just using them for now until I can get a different one. Can I put the reflectix insulation on the zoomed heater? I’ve read different things and can’t find anything in the files. Thanks in advance!

No, Zoomeds cannot safely be insulated over. Insulating would part of the 'encapsulating heat' that they warm about.

You can find the instruction sheet PDF on their product page. https://zoomed.com/reptitherm-under-tank-heater-u-t-h/

Some crabbers have had good luck boosting temps by insulating around the heaters. Covering any sides you aren't using for viewing with cutouts for the UTH, and covering over the top well since heat rises, will help to retain a lot of warmth.

Yea, I did cut around the heaters and put it on the back and one side. I have a glass top on it now. Thanks!
