Condensation on glass

Post by Beckanai » Mon Oct 05, 2020 11:29 am

Sooo we seemed to have finally gotten a great level 80/80, but the sides of the tank seem to be fogging up creating lots of condensation. Are we going too high with the humidity or? I'm kinda at a loss here If this is a good or a bad thing. Crabbies seem very happy but, I feel like its going to end up creating a problem.
Have any of you had this problem or know how we can fix this?

Condensation is caused by the difference in temps in the tank and the room. How much colder is the room than the tank? The colder the room, the more condensation will build up inside the tank. My pet room is appx 72/73F, and the tank is about 77-80F, so not a huge difference. I'm not sure if condensation has ever caused flooding in anyone's tank, but you can always wipe it down once/day to reduce that risk. Image

I just purchased a digital thermometer for inside the room and the tank, but honestly it's not that large of a difference that I can tell, but as long as it's not a bad thing.

I think someone on here has a pic of their crab drinking the condensation off of the glass lol. I'd just wipe it up here and there if it gets really bad. Image

I got a magnetic fishtank cleaner, and use the felted side inside the tank to wipe any condensation away when I want to see inside. Just don't go wild dragging it about, as it has increased friction due to there being no water. Just move it slowly, and you'll get the technique right. Image
