light and heat

Post by lydia15 » Sun Aug 08, 2021 11:39 pm

so ive been caring for crabbies for like 7 months and have always had a lamp over the cage not so much for heat but for light. i read somewhere they need like a "night and day" and one way of doing this was a lamp. is that actually true? im in the works of upping the crabitat with heat and humitidy and all that and if i dont need a light, i can just cover the lid and poke some holes. so if anyone has some tips on heat and humidity and keeping it not too costy i would also appreciate that.

A day/night cycle can be made with any light source. Artificial lighting is good but if the room is illuminated by sunlight during the day that works, too.

An Ultratherm is the cheapest and most effective heating source. You can cover and insulate it to increase efficiency.

To hold in humidity on a budget you can cover the lid or any holes with plastic wrap to reduce air movement.
