I am hoping to add a water feature to my crabitat. I have a 55g with 4 med-lrg PPs. I want to add a climbable waterfall that is separate from their water pools, as I am concerned with the pump system being too strong and serving as a hazard.
Someone told me that some crabs fear waterfalls and that the presence of waterfalls can prevent molting. Is this true?

No. Why would moving water prevent molting?
Other crabbers have had water features and the main problem they have is the crabs drag sand and junk into the water and clog the pump. You could try a filter but you’d have to keep an eye on it in case the crabs try to tear it apart.

The biggest problem I have heard about water features is even well made one's will splash a tiny amount and that will eventually flood the substrate.
The false bottoms used in some terrariums doesn't really work for crabitats because the substrate needs to be so deep. A water feature would need to be self-contained rather than drain into a false bottom.
I've seen some self-contained units for sale (exoterra maybe?) but even a tiny bit of splashing could lead to big problems over time.
Maybe a self contained drip wall?

Re: Waterfalls in Crabitat
I looked at many water features/waterfalls for my 72 gallon. I settled on a fountain from Michael’s which has three levels water drips down all of them and into the back into the base my crabs absolutely love when I turn it on except it brings up the humidity quite a bit causes lots of mold so that is one concern but otherwise I’d recommend Michael’s for getting waterfalls they also have drip walls and many other types
