Hello everyone I’m new here and was looking for some feedback on my tank lid . I have a ten gallon zoomed tank with a mesh lid that slides into place and today I replaced it with a piece of acrylic I cut to fit and I’m hoping it helps with the humidity that I’m having so much trouble with. I have a miss bridge proper substrate and water pools (no bubblers yet) and a fake grass Matt on the back wall for climbing and plenty of shells also as well as heat mat on back of tank above the substrate . I do plan on getting a bigger tank and lots more stuff for climbing hiding ect but it will be a few months befor a can so am I doing right by my temporary setup for my crab’s? And also I had a one crab that went down the night I put in the enclosure and hasn’t been up for 3weeks now and I think he is molting.i got two more crabs that my daughter brought home from a friends house four days ago and they both seem healthy and active and eating untill this morning when I noticed one that has changed shells four times last night has now dug down in the same spot my original crab went down to hopefully molt. Should I worry about the new one eating my original one?????

Re: Tank lid??
The solid lid should help with humidity for sure.
Crabs will often move around once they go underground, so the first one very well may not be in that spot anymore. Having substrate that is at least 2-3 times as deep as the largest crab, and not over crowding the tank helps prevent crabs from coming across each other while underground.

Re: Tank lid??
Thanks so much:) and this morning I got in to do a little maintenance and seen that the hole he/she went down is open and I could see him/her just sitting down there looking at me so I assume just distressing:) and I also came to the conclusion that my humidity gage is not working at all so I’m going to go pick up a digital one today but I know there are a lot of diff kinds and was wondering what is most suggested ?? I really want to do right and more by these little guys so any other suggestions are more than welcome:)

I'm not sure where you live, but I use a digital Accurite thermometer/ hygrometer that was around $10 Canadian.
