River Rocks?

Post by Guest » Mon Feb 23, 2009 5:44 pm

I was wondering if anyone uses the River Rocks in their tanks. I have seen them at WalMart and at Family Dollar. They're just rocks, but look like they've been slightly polished. Ar ethey safe? How do you use them? :)

I would be weary of anything polished, because there could be some stuff they used to polish it still stuck to the rock. That's just me, though, and I try to be safe than sorry.

I know Kaitie, that's what I'm afraid of. Do you suppose boiling in salt water would remove whatever might be there?

I think after boiling them in saltwater they would be fine.

I personally don't use any rocks in my tank for fear that a crab could fall from one of the upper positions and crack it's shell if it landed on a rock...but that's just me...

I'm not planning on using it all over the tank, just as an accent here or there. But I know what you're saying, xena. I wouldn't put anything hard under an upper level. Actually I try to place a moss pit in a strategic location in case someone did fall!
