Plastic Plants?

Post by Texas » Fri Mar 13, 2009 3:02 pm

I picked up some aquarium/terrarium plants with sucker feet for the crabitat. I like them but they smell really plastic-y now that they're in there! Like the whole entire place is reeking of these two things. So now I wondering 1: are they safe and 2: how good is a crab's sense of smell?

I use plastic plants, and they seem to be harmless to the crabs. As far as the smell goes, though, all I can even think MIGHT help would be to wash it really thoroughly or boil it in salt water or something. Then again, I might be crazy.

I have plastic plats and the crabs don't really care. they enjoy going through the vine, like a thick jungle. though those suction cups suck. the crabs will just rip it off.

The best way I have found to get rid of that smell is just boil them in water. Worked for me! My suction cups didn't work also, so I used some heavy duty tape.
