Sunlight recommendations (?)

Post by Guest » Sat Apr 18, 2009 1:15 pm

Question: What is the best location for a hermit enclosure (aquarium).

How much sunlight is recommended?

I have the aquarium placed mid-room which gets no direct sunlight only filtered. Was wondering if they like to bask in the sun at times?

Thanks for your help!

An aquarium/terrarium should never be placed in direct sunlight because it acts like a greenhouse and heats up very quickly.

For sunlight/basking, it's best to get overhead lights designed for terrariums. Either the repti-sun style flourescent UV lights (for daytime), or moonglo/nightglo/sunglos (moonglo/nightglo can be left on 24/7).
