I have made similar a few months back, and resting their "ex" saltwater pool on top as a second level, filled to a couple of cm with sand. Works really well tbh! Meaning to post pics for a while, but still trying to decide on what I should use since photobucket has changed....

Question..

What is a good temp for the tank? It seems to fluctuate between 82 and 84 with about 94% humidity

It depends on what your crabs prefer. We have a few members whose crabs do better at 77 and others who do better at 87.... As long as you keep it between those temps, I think they'll be fine.

In the old tank it hovered between 77 and 79.
They seem to be a little more active in the new tank, but it could be the move.

Have you figured out the moss pit/shell shop yet?

Not yet. I think im going to build some kind of 2nd level tho. I have to make it tall enough to accommodate the height of Mac Daddy on both the top AND bottom of the pit.

A few more mods thia morning. Got netting on the back and a big Apple tree stick in the corner. Mac Daddy likes to climb it. :) Still working on more mods, like the shell shop/2nd level. I'm pleased with the progress tho!

I added Mac Daddy favorite hidey..... the Squidward house... he doesn't fit in it whatsoever, but he likes to perch on top of it and push it over. Lol Image

Gah! This morning I came in the office and Mac Daddy and Junior had escaped but were hanging out on the top of the tank. I had apparently forgotten to put the water jugs back on top of the lid last night! Mac Daddy was NOT happy when I put him back in the tank and he shoved himself in the Squidward house and hasn't come out since. Lol

He is STILL sulking! He was out and about for a bit today but I walked by the tank and he clamped up in his shell. It makes me sad when he does this because her didn't do this before but he's stated doing it more now that he's in the bigger tank. Went do you think this is?

Possibly because not enough coverage... This is totally natural for them. They are super scared of shadows. I'd suggest adding more plants and vines to the tank.

I'm contemplating adding a topper by turning one of the 20s upside down and adding it to the top but I'm SO nervous about it staying attached! What do you guys do to attach your toppers? Add what can I add for a jumbo? He's to big to hide in any of the traditional hides I'm finding :( I'm going to petsmart on Monday to look into some more plants for the tank too

Cheaply- I would get a smallish plastic organizer bin from the dollar store and cut a doorway

Aesthetically- I would look into huts made for snakes Dr Foster and Smith's website have some with the door being 4"x4" but they can get expensive

I get everything from the dollar store hahaImage
