Made some updates. Still waiting on the uth so it will be a few more weeks before we have anh occupants. This is the rough layout. Sorry about the picture quality, in my apartment it is pretty much completely impossible to get a pic that isnt totally full of glare. I think im gonna make a couple of aerial ramps going all the way around the tank for a little more running space.

Still worried about about the lack of floor space, i may have to take that stump out. Id appreciate any thoughts :)ImageImage

That looks sooo beautiful!!! I like your wheel, where did you get it? I ordered one but it's taking it's sweet @ss time to get here...

I would be worried about the floor space, too... But seems like there is a lot of climbing they can do. How many crabbies (and sizes) will be occupying it?

Thanks sylah. Got the wheel at petsmart, not sure how long it will last since it is metal covered with some kind of plasticy stuff but for now it will do. Since its a 45gal i was thinking maybe 5 crabs? Im hoping to get small/medium but i want to adopt so it depends whats available.

It looks great! Nooo not the stump! Lol  I wouldn't worry about the lack of floor space so much. My crabs seem to love clutter. The more stuff to climb on hide under or go through the better. You have plenty of sub so the will dig down in one area and move around under the sub and make tunnels.

Haha i know you loves the stump. I too love the stump as it turns out. Actually one of the really nice things about the stump, aside from tje fact that its hollow and can be climbed into from top or bottom, is that it actually sits ABOVE the sub so theres lots of scuttling/hiding/digging room beneath it, really.

OMG my UTH got shipped today!! I cant wait for it to come! Although once it does come then i have to go about finding some crabs since i dont want to buy them at a pet store so god only knows how long it will be before i get some crab babies!!

Sorry, all these plants are fake! When you say 'coconut finger thing' i imagine youre talking about the shelf i made at the top of the tank. I just took a plastic takeout lid, cut it in half, stuck it together and then attached cocofiber on top and burlap on bottom and hung it up on suction cups.

I would like to get some live plants but my tank is in a shady spot so ill need supplemental lighting. Im still waiting on my UTH to get here so if it turns out that my UTH isnt enough on its own and i need a basking light, i may actually put some plants in there.

Also, i did have some live frog moss in the hanging tupperware on the left but decided to return it for some beaked moss instead for a moss pit. You can get both of those mosses at the pet store

Something I just thought of is, my crabs are like"why so much floor space?" Looks to me like they can walk on the floor all underneath your stump. Personally, I love it. I bet they will too.

To clarify that, my tank has way too much space. Yours looks great!

Good to know that floor space is not a big deal! Can't wait to see your adoptions!

Thanks for all the kind words guys! Everything is looking prettu good right now, i dont even have my uth yet but temp is 81*F already with the basking light. Humidity is about 85, which im a little worried by since i dont even have any water or food or moss in there yet. It would be better if it were low actually. The tank lid is nothing more than a piece of acrylic thats just sitting on top so if its TOO humid in there that will be hard for me to fix.... might have to drill some holes in it i guess. Will keep you all updated on changes or when i finally get some crab babies ;)

Too much humidity isint an issue many crabbers hydrometers read 99% RH constantly. It's perfectly fine for the crabs. It could cause mold growth but that's no problem for the crabs either. It won't effect them but if u are sensitive to molds it might be an issue for u. I think it will be fine as long as u don't overmist. I have a 50g and my hydrometer stays around 85% with lights on, 2 large moss pits and dual bubblers and I almost never mist except when the moss dries out and I have had no issues with mold. Also u could try calibrating your hydrometer just to make sure it's accurate. Here's the wikihow instructions

Yeah i calibrated my hygro a couple of days ago and am i glad i did! It was off by 10 degrees!! I cant believe i never heard about that in all of my years of owning a crested gecko. Although cresties are alot less finicky about humidity, generally as long as they dont get any stuck shed theyre fine.

Im trying to adopt some crabs but it is a slow process. I wonder how long i can hold out before i just go buy some at the store???.... im betting 1 week.
