My mom does not think hermit crabs get very big

This is where you discuss the conditions of your crabitat -- temperature, humidity, substrate, decorating, etc.

Then you may need to consider rehoming in the future.

Are you able to get a job and purchase your own crab supplies?

I actually have a job. I work four days a week from Monday to Thursday. If I don't end up getting a bigger tank, I may consider re-homing my crabs. But there is a chance I may end up upgrading.

Maybe you could talk about the consequences of not having the 6 inches?

Goodbye my little E. See you soon.
Bye Fred. You lasted almost 4 years with me. Hope you're with my E now! See you soon Reeba as well. I can't believe I lost you only after a month.

Yeah, I can do that if my mom is willing to listen.

If you have a job and are paying for your own supplies in your own room then I don't understand what the issue with your mother is.

I'd never allow my kid to get a pet unless they took proper care of it. And yes, I'm a parent.

I see that it hasn’t improved, I am sorry.
If you can pay for your own hermit crab needs, then there shouldn’t be a restriction on what you can buy, which is simple sand.

Be firm and demanding to your mom, but polite. Try to get her to understand and allow you to get a bit more substrate.

Sadly, some parents are the ones making unnecessary decisions to downgrade for pets.

Let's not tell others how to speak to their parents, okay?

Regardless of how any of us feel about the situation, Crabby33 has to live there and abide by whatever rules set forth for so long as they live there, reasonable or not.

Yes, but what I meant was, just try to speak to her in a better way and actually get her to capture this situation to decide the better of things. When I find out that I need something for anything, I ask my parents, show them the item, and explain why and what I’ll be using it for.

Usually, if it’s found to be necessary, I will be able to get it.

@crabby33
I hope everything goes alright, just remember that whatever your parents say, that’s most likely the final call.

They want me to learn I cannot buy everything I see. A bigger tank is considered an impulse buy and a waste of money.
