I have it held up by the "base" of it with suction cups. That is the only metal part and it's covered in plastic/rubber. Silicone? Lol. I don't think any of it would rust.

I have a silent spinner too, could electrical tape work to cover the metal and keep it from rusting?

the base of mine rusted but i had kept it on the sub. also when i unscrewed it upon taking it out the inside of the yellow plastic is a metal screw and that had rusted. may not be too harmful but im too paranoid to find out
