Thats so funny cause just today i was wondering what my cb handle would be if i had a ham radio haha. Yeah they are mid sized crabs already, about the size of golfballs. Im ok w that tho bc it means less molting, which im a little nervous for. Still planning on getting 2 more. The one in the yellow green shell was rip roarin around the whole place when i got them home. He climbed up the burlap and did a tour of the whole perimeter!

Do they molt less and less as they grow? Makes sense because what I can see, especially the green shell one, he/she has very nice rich color. Am I correct, did I hear that color gets better with molting?

Yes and yes. The bigger the get, the less frequently they molt. Also, from what i hear they do have their best color after they molt. The folks i adopted them from said they never molted for them but all three look great, they all have nice color, all have hair and their fingernails so i think they might even hang out a bit before they molt.

It's funny how molting time differs. Even the same crab, to my knowledge, can stay down for 6 weeks one molt and 12 for another. It's cool that it seems like you get a chance bond a while before molting. I miss mine terrible when they go down.

Let me ask you this, what would make s crab go down to molt, come up a few days, and go back under for a couple more weeks? My Mi Mi did that last month.

Spanks. Now I'm just contemplating what my shell bill is gonna look like! These guys are medium-large. I'm pretty sure the two bigger ones are in 3" shells right now with around an inch and a half to 2 inch openings. It's kind of hard to say for sure bc I really don't want to harass them too much at the moment and also so far they have refused to retract into their shells. So I think I'm looking at a fairly steep shell budget! Oh well. I just hope I get the right sizes because they're not gonna be cheap!
