Got a 11 x 29 Ultratherm :)

Post by GabyRaven » Fri Nov 18, 2016 9:42 pm

Just installed a new heater :) What's your thoughts about ultratherm? I read on here that it's the best kind so I bought the one sized for a 20 gal long. Curious about everyone's experience with these Image

Ultratherm's are the pinnacle of UTHs. I installed an 11x23 on the 29g almost two years ago and haven't had a second of trouble with it. One of the very nice perks of the Ultratherm is that they can be insulated, if needed, to boost the output.
PPs are Big Enzo, Charles Paris and Mr Pinch
On the Big Beach in the Sky: Murray, Gino, Oscar, Gordon, Ignatz, Harry and King Felix the Pale
Also Mom to Imogene the Syrian Hamster

Sweet! That's awesome, how did you stick it on your tank? Currently, I have it stuck on with scotch tape but I'm sure there's a better way

We started out with 1
Zoomed UTH then another because the first one did a horrible job then finally gave in and got the Ultratherm. Best money spent!! I use packing tape all along the edges (no tape on the heating element itself).

Same! The zoomed one I had was pathetic, didn't make a difference at all, but this one is so nice a toasty that 3 out of 4 of my crabs came out to play this morning!

I just purchased mine, but I used reflectix tape. I read you could use package tape & duct tape also. :).

I'm sure it'd work in a pinch, but I don't know how well it will hold up long term.
