heat mat size

Post by Moorespride » Sat Dec 17, 2016 5:31 pm

I am ordering an ultratherm heat mat and hope to get it here before Christmas but I need to make sure I get the right size as I wont be able to just go exchange it. my tank is 30" x 12" x 19" tall. will add a good depth of substrate 6" or so? so will a 6" by 23" heater be big enough to place on the back wall just above the substrate? I haven't got clarification from anyone about what size is best. I do already have a heat regulator ready to use when we get set up. all I can get local or on amazon is zoomed and would like to choose that brand as I can exchange those if its not enough heat... but I haven't got any clarification again on size. I love this site for all this information. I with the leopard gecko forum was being used to get info on them as well.

6x23 is perfect so that in the future you can add more sub and still place heater above it.

Amazon Carrie's other brands besides zoomed, you just have to get creative looking things up .

I certainly found that bigger was better at keeping my tank warm enough.
