I Inadvertently Potty Trained My Crabs :)

I upgraded my crabs from a 50G to a 120, and in doing so, did a little redesigning. Lo and behold, the bucket lying along the ground as a shell-shack has become a favorite hang for the majority. When I went to go swap out some shells today, I found that it is also being used as a potty. A quick inspection found very little waste scattered elsewhere, so I am going to call this a win.

*Pictures to come if I can find the thread reminding me how to load pictures...

Ok. Installed taptalk to my new phone just to post pictures of crab poop. Yup. I'm that kind of dork. ;)

Lol, cute! I didn't know what crab poop actually looked like (never see any in my tank)!

Yeah, I've got springtails and isopods to help with maintenance. I lost a lot of them when switching tanks, and I'm waiting for the colonies to rebuild. In the meantime, I'm seeing more poop than usual ... thankfully, it's mostly in one place! :)

This is grossly satisfying! I have one crab that always has one place she likes to poop, but the other two are all over the place. Lol

Glad to see I'm not the only one who's managed to create a potty. I hope your other 2 catch on and fall in line with the first.

Haha I recently found poop in my tank for the first time. Mostly in my food dishes. I'm fairly certain it will be IMPOSSIBLE for me to find on my sub. Does anyone actually make an attempt to clean out the poo on their sub?

A lot of people have springtails and isopods in the tank to eat spilled food and poop. Part of the reason that the potty has accumulated is that I've recently upgraded to a bigger tank and, while I planted enough isopods to start a colony, it hasn't really bloomed yet.
