Mold in crabitat

I went to check on my little buddy and I found mold on the substrate! I can't get new soil until later today, where do I keep him? Do I keep him next to me, or do I put him back in his crabitat? I have scraped out the visible mold on the surface, and plan on replacing the substrate today. But until then, what do I do? I have him next to me on my bed at the moment.
I also just got him only 8 days ago, if that helps?

From what I've read on here mold isn't harmful to the crabs. Just to us, I guess especially if you are allergic to it.

The mold is not harmful to the crabs. Put him back in his tank. You don't have to replace the substrate just scrape the mold off.

How much mold was there? If it was just on the surface (which if you have only have them for 8 days, I would imagine it's just surface), then I agree with just scraping if off and putting the crab back in the tank!

What are you using for substrate? What are the temp and humidity in the tank?

I have since scraped off the mold, and replaced my water with saltwater. I'm not exactly sure what I'm using, I think it may be coconut soil. But I kind of freaked out when I first saw it, haha. But after researching, I did put him back in his tank and he doesn't seem to mind it. Thank you everyone for replying, I was freaked out for a while.

Lol, crab keeping is so weird - what other pet can you have mould in its cage and be like, "nah, not a problem"?

Any questions just ask! :)

What do you mean 'replaced the water with salt water'? Your crabs will need to have access to both fresh (dechlorinated) water and salt water (dechlorinated water with product such as Instant Ocean, not table salt). Many people use a mixture of play sand and Eco Earth (5:1 ratio is most common) for substrate, and it will need to be moist enough to hold it's shape (ie- sand castle consistency).
