Ultratherm a little too big

So I just got my Ultratherm and discovered that it hangs off the back of the tank about an inch or so on both sides. Can I still use this? Does it pose any safety hazards? Should I still insulate it with Reflectix?

Its still fine to use... just DONT BEND/CUT the sides.. (AT ALL!) Bending the sides can cause the wires to snap, potentually becoming a fire haxard. And cutting it, same deal applies.
You can still insulate it, but you just have to be careful you don't bend in the sides.

Also, if it gets too hot for your tank, you can always purchase a thermostat for it. Hey - one of these days you might upgrade your tank and need the larger
Edit: Some people use rheostats too
