What to do with my crabbies?

Post by Lovelittlecrabs17 » Wed May 23, 2018 7:23 am

I'm going on vacation for 8-9 days. 2 of my crabs have been down for about 2 weeks now. (It is possible they are coming out at night. Idk.) Those 2 have molted successfully in the past 3 months. Should I find them and take them with me in their little plastic cages, or will they be ok while I'm gone? I've never left them since I got them. If it's ok to leave them, what do I need to do to ensure they have what they need? Advice and suggestions please!!! Thank you.

Hi there! I personally think they will be fine if you leave them plenty of things to munch on. How deep are their water pools? Do you have air stones in them?

Leaf litter, snake skin, worm castings, seeds, calcium, dry foods all work well! :)

I have left for almost 2 weeks leaving a huge pile in each of my tanks - of course I had friends check on them. My friends don't know anything about crabs - so I prefer they leave them alone. :)

Never dig up your crabs. :)

Yes, I agree with GotButterflies. I have left mine for 8 nights. Fill up water bowls and give lots of dried food for them.

Thank guys! I was so worried about leaving them. I feel better now. I have 2 of each fresh and salt water. They are large enough to not evap in a week, and not too deep to be unsafe. I don't have rocks, only a sea sponge. My humidity maintains very well. Thanks again for the advice!

I would suggest having someone come in towards the end and check water levels to be safe. In the past that has been the only problem that people on vacation have had. If they run out of water they do not do well!
