Mold where? Some crabbers recommend soaking the coconut fiber in marine-strength saltwater to prevent mold in the substrate. Same for moss and wood.
Mold will eventually sprout up, it’s just part of the territory. It won’t harm the hermit crabs.
Just don’t leave fresh food laying around for days on end and you’ll be fine.

Are you able to take the little bit out or is it covering a huge area?
I left a raspberry in for too long one time (They pulled it off the food dish and across the tank so i totally forgot about it) and there was some mold on the berry and a little surrounding. I was able to take a spoon and scoop the area out and no problems since. I didn't soak my EE in dechlor msw though.

I need to get more Coco fiber and sand. It's not as deep as I wanted it to be

Everyone covered it before me...I personally recommend dechlorinated msw for moistening ee for substrate.
Mold will not hurt the crabs. It can hurt us if we breathe the spores in~ especially those with asthma.

You can add springtails to take care of any mold or fungus. I keep them in all my humid habitats and they do a good job of it.
