Redecorating new tank: enrichment ideas

Pretty soon i am going to be moving my four for a 20 gallon to a 55, which means pretty soon im going to be redecorating! I was wondering what you guys think would be fun for the hermies to have. Right now i only have basics: a hide, a piece of drift wood for them to climb on and hide under, and a large conch that Sheldon likes to sleep in because the others cant get him in there.

I was also wondering about plastic plants and if they would be safe? Or if certain ones are safer than others? If so. What would be the best way to secure them so that the hermies can play without knocking them over, etc.

And, if anyone knows, do hermit crabs actually swim? Like if i were to give them a larger water pool, would there be any danger in the water being deeper than the crab is tall, or would that be safe? I cant find anything that gives a solid answer to this.

Thanks!

Hermit crab I am pretty sure don't swim. They walk and soak in pools. Now hermit crabs can drown, but if you use aquarium plants, driftwood, big shells, and craft mesh to make it easy for them to get in and out you should be fine.

Plastic plants are fine for the most part, as long as they dont have like sparkles or any stuff that might come off. Most of us use plastic plants in our tats.

Look at the posts in pictures of crabitats. We get some of our ideas from each other and like to share.
