I currently have 2 PPs in a 10g and I've read they love to climb. However with the amount of substrate needed it gets very cramped. Do I just need to upgrade my tank to make it work better or what are some ways to have tank toppers (I think that's what they're called) without making it a pain to access the enclosure? The less expensive the better, but I am also in the process of making my tank a vivarium and want it to look as naturalistic as possible.
I have also seen 20g hexagonal tanks at PetSmart that open from the front and am thinking with some modification it could work. Does anyone have experience using these with hermies?
Any ideas/thoughts on second level/increasing vertical space?

It's recommended you have about 10 gallons per crab, although if they are (very) small the 10 gallon will work for now. You can always find cheap tanks on Craigslist or Facebook marketplace. It doesn't have to hold water. For a second level you can use plastic egg crate (which you can find at every craft store) and cover it in plastic plants for a natural look. You can also use sticks for climbing (make sure it's safe! Maple, oak, birch are safe)

Actually, HCA does not subscribe to the ten gallons per crab 'rule' - it depends on the size of the crabs.

Also, there are many safe woods for crabs, not just the ones Silver listed.
