Should She DIG?????
So, my friend's crabitat has been super cold lately and it has dropped below 60 and it's really scaring her. She's really concerned for her crabs because all of them are buried and she hasn't seen them in quite some time. She's going to try and buy a new heater so that it gets a lot warmer in there, but she's really worried about her crabs. Can you please help us with the back of plan in case it drops below 60 again. We aren't sure if we should dig up the crabs and put them in an ISO with a heat mat or just leave them buried. Please help us!!!!!!

Re: Should She DIG?????
It sounds like she needs to attach some uth's asap. Can she get to the pet store to get some? Can she turn the heat up in her house at all so it stays above 60 at least? If it's that cold, it sounds like she'll need at least one pad on every side of the tank. Digging them up and moving them won't do much good if there's no heat for the iso either.

She is going to try to buy 2 10"×20" in heat mats on Amazon today. The plan would be to attach the current heat mats to the iso. I'll tell her to try to turn up the heat. Thanks for replying!CrabbyLover77 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 2:31 pmIt sounds like she needs to attach some uth's asap. Can she get to the pet store to get some? She can also use hot water bottles (or really fill any bottle, like an empty 2L pop bottle) and put on top and next to the tank. Then cover with some blankets - that should help boost the heat while she waits for the heaters.

No prob! Even if she just bumps the heat up until the new uth's come in that should help. Tell her to close the door to the room the crabs are in (if possible) and make sure the heat vent is open. This will keep most of the hot air in that area. Good luck!HappyHermit0916 wrote: She is going to try to buy 2 10"×20" in heat mats on Amazon today.
