help!!
i'm a bit worried about my hermit crabs and i don't know what to do. i got my hermit crabs yesterday and they seem to be doing okay. i have one problem though. their crabitat is too humid and at some points i see it is at 99%. but also their crabitat is too cold. the average temperature is around 19 degrees celsius. i don't want them to die but i don't know what to do. i have a heat mat under their crabitat and i have tried the hand warmers and blanket methods but i don't think it's working anymore. please help!!

Re: help!!
there is no such thing as too humid.. first off.. so that's fine.
The heat pad needs to be on the side of the crabitat, not under it. Ideally it will cover the entire back, above the level of the substrate.. you can tape it on with duct tape or anything that's pretty sticky.

Re: help!!
NOTE: If your heatmat has built-in adhesive, it is not safe to reuse it after peeling it off. If you have an Ultratherm or similar, it can be moved.
The reason the heatmat underneath isn't making a difference is because that method is designed for reptile habitats with very shallow substrate. Crabs' substrate is so much deeper that right now, you aren't heating the air at all, only the substrate.
