Marine tank growing mold
Marine tank growing mold
Is there a way to stop a marine tank from growing mold? Is the mold safe for the crabs? I have white mold that keeps growing. I tried scooping it out and it grew right back, is there anything I can do?

What is it growing on? If it’s food you can reduce feeding, otherwise lowering humidity to 70% can help reduce it. Substrate either use less coconut fiber or mix with saltwater (spraying saltwater works too, just note that repeatedly spraying will result in salt buildup)

What do you mean marine tank? Do you have marine hermit crabs or land crabs? A marine tank would have algae.
If you have land crabs, mold does happen with the high humidity. Some things such as natural wood mold easily, or if it’s on the substrate it could be old food that they’ve left behind. Where exactly is it? How wet is your substrate and what is it composed of?

Fungi can also appear in aquatic marine systems if there are organics available to feed on
