Mites?

Hey guys. I’ve been noticing while cleaning out the food there’s microscopic lil bugs in there they don’t seem to be on my grabs just in the crabitat. I used play sand and eco earth. I am planning a full tank clean up. Due to two more crabs coming in at the end of the week.

What I am wondering is how does this happen and what do I do to stop it. I think they might be sand mites? Is there a way to disinfect the sand before I add it to the tank?

Mites that are not on the crabs are not harmful to the crabs. Many people have mites, they are kind of inevitable in a tank.
