Moss

I have family members who live in an area with little to no fertilizer/pesticide spraying. I have gathered leaves and isopods for my hermit crabs from their land with no issues. Would I also be able to gather moss or are there any concerns I should be aware of there? They live in northeastern Missouri if that is helpful.
