Hello all! I haven't been on this forum for a very long time!! I still have my 5 hermit crabs.
Well, the story of my crabs is that they were first in a 10g, then a 3ft long but the 3ft long tank bottom fell off so they went back into the 10g then I bought them a new 45cmx45cmx60cm tank!
Hopefully its big enough for them!
Tell me what you think!
Daniel
P.S Some time this week Ill give an updated picture

Lookin' good so far. The substrate seems deep enough (judging from the pic) for the crabs and looks like it has lots to keep them entertained and sustained.

Thanks Guys! Yep the sand is defiantly deep enough lol. Still have to make another story as there is plenty of wasted space up the top. Though I do catch my hermit crabs climbing on the roof lol.
Thanks, Daniel

Looks terrific...my only comment from personal experience, is to not have any rock or rock slabs...I have had crabs fall from vines or plants up top and crack their shells on stuff below them.

I was about to freak out and wonder how you managed to find enough room for a monster like that.
Then I realized the measurements were in cm not inches.
xD
Looks great!

Congrats!!! It appears you have plenty of height. I'd create elevated shelves and stuff with mopani wood. Hermies are not scared of heights.

Thanks! Do you reckon the 120longcmx35cmHighx 45cmwide tank will be big enough??
Ive added some grape vines but they may move back into a 90cm long tank. I think its the same height so Ill be adding a second level.

Well guys Ive been busy all day setting this tank up!
Its 90cmx60cmx35cm (LxHxW)
Sand is shallow up front but gets deeper at the back and around the pools.
Vines are all good and light is good! Only problem is getting the humidity up again!
Tell me what you think!
Checking to see if its sand castle consistency (hahaha)
Left side
Right side
Whole tank
Total cost:
Tank $0
Light $0
Sand $0
Vines $3
Rocks $0
Water dishes and salt $0
Shells $0
Hermit crabs $12.50
Total!! $15.50 to setup the tank!
Sounds like a bargain to me!

Looks awesome! If I may make a couple of suggestions, get some fish netting from Michael's for example, and suction cup it to the back wall of your tank for more climbing places, put a moss pit shower caddy up in one of the corners for chill time and maybe a vine from one side to the other for more antics...I have two 75 gallons and do the most to maximize "dead" space...

Thanks, I don't think we have a Michael's in Australia. There is a few crafty cheap shops so ill look there.
I'm going to attach something to make a big second level.
Could I have a large/medium icecream tub in the tank full of sand for a moulting pit instead of deep sand on the floor?
