How to keep stable humidity

Post by Guest » Mon May 25, 2009 5:09 pm

I am constantly checking on the tank to make sure its a good level, sometimes its too high and i need to make the plexi glass crack bigger, or sometimes i need to make it smaller and its frustrating...especially since i will be going away for a week this summer and letting my family watch them. Does anybody know any ways to keep the level pretty stable and normal?

A humidifier can help a lot with keeping humidity more stable. Since there's a constant source of humid air from the inside, it's not so reactive to other changes. Also, a moist lower substrate has the same effect.

Temporary effects such as misting or turning heat sources on will create temporary jumps or dips, making it hard to continuously compensate.

If the highs/lows are just a result of daily fluctuation, as temp rises and falls, it probably won't be too bad to let it sit over a week or so. Anywhere in the 65-85o fluctuation should be OK for a week.
