might be adopting a crab and need a temp. home

I posted a "want add" on craigslist for a hermit crab, and today someone finally wrote back. he said he found a hermie in a painted shell and does not know how to take care of it, he is about the size of a gold ball. in my tank i do not currently have space for him but I am trying to upgrade. So my question is can I keep him in a fixed up tupperware? or something? any [cheap] ideas are welcome

cuz i don't have the moeny right now for a new tank. also, can this crab get my other hermies sick?

You would want to ISO him like any other new addition, but tupperware is not a long term solution. For a few days, ok, but not longer. It just does not hold heat the way glass does.
