I think my crab is dying :'(

Post by GabyRaven » Fri Aug 26, 2016 10:28 pm

I got Blueberry (PP) a couple weeks ago from Petco. She seemed very healthy, if a bit shy, and was very active and playful for the first two weeks. Then, she went into the moss pit I set up in the tank. She submerged herself and I was like, "okay she's just de- stressing or maybe even molting, but she really was dying and she's dropped three legs, including her armor leg...

Is there anything I can do to save her??? She's pretty much limp in her shell, and can hardly move :'(

I tried to fill out that form for emergencies but for some reason I don't have "permission" to do almost anything on this app, including posting this in the right sub-forum, so I apologize for that in advance.

That being said:
I have ~6 inches of EE Sub, 10 gal, 70% humidity lowest, I feed them fruits and veggies and occasionally white meats, and I don't hold them much so I like to think that it's not because I stress them out, I haven't handled Blueberry in over a week

Consider it moved. :)
*snip* Is there anything I can do to save her??? *snip*
Most likely no, it sounds like its PPS. The best thing you can do for her is to ensure that the tank is at the right levels and if possible try and offer her food full of minerals and proteins. Stuff like honey work great - as it's also easy for them to eat - but even a bit of powdered cuttlefish bone and powdered foods - like spirulina. They normally weaker than usual, so offering food that doesn't take a lot of effort to "rip apart" would be best chance for their survival.
Other than that, try to remain positive and best of luck for your blueberry!

I guess it was PPS, because she was gone this morning :( But on the bright side, I bought snazzy new shells for my remaining three babies in her honor, and my largest crab has already shopped around :) blueberry is gone, but she lives on in their new shells Image Pics of Janet in her new stunning magpie below:

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about the little one passing. *hugs* Hope you and your little ones are ok!
But on the flip side, your crabby looks amazing in her new shell.

The rest of the babies are doing fine :) it doesn't really seem like the others noticed she was gone because she was in the moss out for so long... Thank you for the shell love and condolences, this is the nicest forum ever ^_^

Double side note: Janet switched again, so I thought I'd share her newest pick
