Not moving...not responding to my touch...

Do you wash in dechlorinated water?

Edit: you definitely need to do this, but either way, it sounds like pps. Don't be hard on yourself.

Big claw is dead. He smelled awful when i was changing food and water in the tank. I lifted his shell and he fell out. ImageImageImage
Im nit trying to post gore but im hoping maybe how he looks could maybe tell someone why he died.

I'm sorry for you loss. I don't think you are killing them. I really think it is just Post Purchase Syndrome. Here is a link on it. http://hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/ ... 29#p852629

I believe it was deff pps :(
I'm sorry for your loss this unfortunately is just part of crabbing. Do you have a different pet store in your area? Also, do you have a used tank? I posted a new to me used tank on here that I was fixing up and a member commented that used tanks are risky because if they were used for certain purpose they can secrete a toxic substance. Don't quote me on it and some one with more knowledge please chime in if I'm wrong. Just what I've heard. But I've always used used tanks with no problem.

I am so so sorry to hear this. Don't beat yourself up about it. You sound like a great crab mom- just take my advice and adopt instead of purchasing in the future. Again so sorry for your loss.

Thank you for all the replies. How do i go about adopting? What makes adopting different then the pet store?

I'm so sorry for your losses :'( You didn't do anything wrong, it was for sure PPS, everyone else has covered everything already but I just wanted to say you're a great crabber, don't feel bad, it wasn't your fault <3 Adopting is a great idea :)

Adoption reduces the risk of PPS and you're not contributing to the pet trade... Post an ad on here and on craigslist saying seeking crabs. Be sure to include plenty of details. ;)
