Might have just been an unfortunate accident under the surfaceIf he hasn't already, he will likely drop the damaged limb since it's easier to drop it and then regrow on the next molt than it is to keep it. I've seen this occur in other crabs before, so don't be surprised if he drops it. I would just feed him lots of nutrient rich food, especially protein and calcium. I've had limbs regrow and it's pretty neat! It will come in smaller and brighter in color (from my experience) but after a few molts it should be back to normal size
