Crab dying????

Post by Hobadareo » Sun Jul 22, 2018 11:31 pm

My crab recently lost part of one of his legs, I have no idea how. He hid in his shell a few days but was definitely still moving around a little bit. These past few days he has significantly gotten worse. He hasn't moved in a few days so I smelled him and he smelt a little fishy. Then I put him on my hand and a few minutes later I felt his leg graze my hand. I picked him up to look at him and he jerked back. I'm very concerned because usually he loves to climb up my arms, on my lap, or the walls of his cage. I haven't had him for that long and this is my first time having a hermit.

If you could answer the questions in the following link, that would help us help you better.

Although, right off the bat, the fact that you handle him often and keep him in a "cage" is concerning. They're prey animals who are better left alone, unless necessary, and they need to be in a glass tank or plastic tub that is covered to keep humidity 80%+.
