Another Molter Gone...

Post by hermiwormi » Tue Mar 26, 2019 3:10 pm

Yep, again.. Another molter has been found above ground, dead. Conditions have been the same and the other guys are doing great, happy and healthy. I'm sure this guy is Chella..

I'm not sure why molters are appearing above ground before they are finished molting. I'm doing everything I can to keep my guys healthy, happy, and thriving.. I even go out of my way to constantly get things for them when I am traveling.

I've got three little guys now, sigh..

I’m sorry you lost another crab🙁. I hope all of the others survive😊
I have had pets in the past, but my family can’t have any furry or feathered ones due to allergies. I usually try my best to help and currently trying to set up a crabitat. I also try to treat others with Love!❤️

The others are perfectly fine, just for some reason molters keep appearing above ground before they are finished

I'm so sorry! Losing our little buddies is rough. I'm sure you try your best, it's most likely just nature taking its course.

I hope so. I just didn’t think it was natural or normal for two molters to come up above ground prematurely :(

I'm sure you have answered this somewhere else, so my apologies for asking again.
What do you use for substrate? How deep? How large and how many crabs do you have?

I use a mix of Play Sand and Eco Earth, 6.5” deep. I have 3 crabs now, two medium and one tiny.

So sorry for your loss.
I have 4 purple pinchers. Crush, Bubbles, Sheldon, Sandy, and little Angelo. And I love Jesus! He is the way, the truth and the life, and he knew what he was doing when he made hermit crabs!☺
