I’ve been watching over Leo the past few days. He’s been hiding mostly, and he hasn’t really come out to get either food or water. I’ve started to pick him up and place him over the bowl so he can grab something (which has worked), though he doesn’t take the soft pellets I break down for him. He just goes for the other food and just keeps it in his mouth. Which I think is a good sign. Also as heating goes, I’ve been trying to warm up the water I spray the tank with in attempt to get the temperature up a couple degrees. It works, but not in the way I really wanted it to. I’m heading to the store sometime this week to get a heating pad to keep the tank warm.

Any thoughts on anything? On Leo’s eating habits?

If the temp is constantly falling below 75, crabs will become less active because it isn't warm enough. It may also cause stress. I would handle him as little as possible, because that might only stress him more. Just try to bring the food to wherever he is sitting in the tank if he needs a little assistance eating. If you don't get an Ultratherm uth, I believe some on here have also recommend Fluker's uth. Image

What if he isn’t accessible within the tank? Would he just munch on substrate? Would that provide enough nutrition?

If he has his little pincher like you mentioned, he should be able to get food to his mouth. You can keep a couple, or even 3 small food dishes in different locations so food is never far away.
I'm sorry if I asked already, can't remember, is he actually able to walk?

Yeah he is able to. He’s been digging as well.

That's good to hear. I'd def just let him be, and maybe put a little extra food around that he can access from different areas in the tank. Image

Lost Limbs

I’ve got some good news.

Leo came up two days ago and he has gone through a successful molt! Limbs have grown back and everything. Though, the only thing that concerns me is his skittishness. It’s gotten to the point if he sees his own reflection he curls away for an hour, but that’s another topic. All is well. :)

Edit:

I forgot to mention! I have a new lamp and a heat pad for the tank to keep it warm. It’s one of the halogen lamps that gets up to around 90ish degrees at max depending on the bulb. So temperature now ranges from 70 - 85 during the day.
