I'm sorry about Bubbles. I'm going to add my suggestions so you know what to improve before you get any more crabbies.

1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it?
EE 2 inches (small crab)

CL77- Sub should be moistened to sand castle consistency with dechlor fresh/salt water. It should be at least 6", or 3x the height of your biggest crabby. You'd have to have a very small crab for 2" to be enough to molt in.

2. Do you have gauges in the tank to measure temperature and humidity? If so, where are they located and what temperature and humidity do they usually read?

dont have one

CL77- A therm/hygrometer is a necessity. Hermit crabs have modified gills and need moisture in the air to breath. Humidity should never drop below 70%, and imo, shoot for 80%+.

3. Is a heat source used in the tank? If so, what?

none

4. What types of water are available (fresh or salt) and how is the water treated (what brands of dechlorinator or salt mix and what ratio is used to mix it)?
Fresh and salt

CL77- The salt must be a marine salt like Instant Ocean. Anything else doesn't have the minerals the crabbies need.

5. What kinds of food do you feed and how often is it replaced?
I give him a variety of food and usually change it out every day

CL77- Be sure to supply a constant source of protein and calcium.

6. How long have you had the crab and what species is it, if known?
I have had my pp for over a month

7. Has your crab molted, and how long ago did it happen?
My crab molted a couple weeks ago

8. What type of housing are the crabs kept in, what size is it and what kind of lid is on the housing?
10 gallon and i keep a garbage bag for a lid with a blanket on top.

9. How many crabs are in the tank and about how large are they?

12. How often do you clean the tank and how?
was about to clean it soon

13. Are sponges used in the water dish? If so, how are they cleaned?

one sponge bubbles hasnt touched it the food mites have

CL77- Sponges are fine for crabbies to munch on dry. If they're in the water dish, they just harbor bacteria.

14. Has anything new been added to your crabitat recently?
no

15. Is there any other information you would like to share that might be helpful (anything that is regularly part of your crab care, playtime, bathing, etc.)?
he was so active until....

16. Please describe the emergency situation in detail.

CL77- If you decide to get anymore crabbies, please follow my suggestions above.

I agree with everything CL77 said. I am terribly sorry for your loss. I recently had a crab pass too so I understand how it feels.
Just for the future, spamming your own topic is a bit annoying and might not help.

I will be a lot less active with HCA do to me not having any crabbies, I will try to offer advice whenever I can. It is better than quitting HCA. I have had one to many broken hearts and I don't want any more to be broken.

I am sorry to hear about him passing away. I agree with the suggestion made by CL77. I believe most of these suggestions have been made to you already. You can focus on getting your tank conditions ideal, prior to getting more crabs. They go through so much prior to us getting them, that the only thing we can do is keep them in ideal conditions once we get them.

I am unfortunately not planning on getting any more crabs soon. I will always love hermies and may consider getting some again. I am considering a leopard gecko but it is not official.
