BROWN LIQUID AND AWFUL SMELL FROM HERMIT CRAB
Dead or alive? I am having a real hermie emergency
so I recently adopted a new hermit crab which I named sloth because he’s never been active and I’ve had him for a month now. today I found him in his freshwater bowl and all around him was this absolute STINKY brown liquid. I immediately pulled him out and put him on a paper towel to dry off as I cleaned his bowl and replaced the water. since placing him in his tank with the paper towel he has not moved for 24 hours. I’ve read that if you see brown liquid from your hermit crab and limited mobility it can mean they’re moulting, but I’ve also read that if there’s a really bad smell/fishy rotten smell then it means your crab has passed.. SO WHICH IS IT??

Is he in a shell or out of a shell?
