please help! I resently bought a new 75 gallon tank wich is a upgrade for me the problem here is its a custom made tank I think originally made for fish. it has a glass top that slides and folds half open for easy access.(hope that makes sence) I have two heating lamps one on each side and the eco earth I made earlier today. ive never had problems with humidity in my other tank but I had a screen top and a side heating pad since it was such a smaller tank. I figure since this tank is much larger heating lamps would do the trick. the bedding is plenty moist and I have misted often but of course without proper heat it wont make much humidity. what im afraid is the glass top is to thick for me to properly heat, but if I fold open the glass top the humidity just escapes. I can only get the temp to about 69. and I just dont know what to do.
ps sorry for the bad grammer lol

Re: new tank wont keep humidity or temperature
I have a 55 gallon and I have a UTH for 50-60 and 2 heat lamps 1 is a night time heat bulb. I do have to mist 2 times a day because of the heat lamp. I am thinking of getting another UTH so I don't have to use the heat lamp as much or get a lower watt. I put bubblers in fresh and salt water pools to help raise the humidity.maddyboo13 wrote:please help! I bought an additional 6 crabbies, so I have a total of 10 now. the problem here is its a custom made tank I think originally made for fish. it has a glass top that slides and folds half open for easy access.(hope that makes sence) I have two heating lamps one on each side and the eco earth I made earlier today. ive never had problems with humidity in my other tank but I had a screen top and a side heating pad since it was such a small tank. HI there!
Congrats on the upgrade, they are always fun

You can also add bubblers to your pools, add a moss pit and mist as needed. Just be sure not to over mist and flood the tank

Re: new tank wont keep humidity or temperature
thanks guys for all the tips and tricks! i was able to fix the problem
turned out the custom made glass top was way to thick for any heat to get in.( custom made from the guy i bought it from) so with a new top my crabbies have 70% humidity and 75° F. and i added a large new moss pit aswell
so glad i got this figured out so i can enjoy the new setup and new hermies
