Violet broke Shelby's LP off!

I just assumed that it was the food, so I took the food out.

Shelby is stiff and hasn't moved in 3 days.

Do hermit crabs go stiff when their dead?

I have only had mine go limp when dead.

I think she is probably gone...But again they are odd creatures. Wait until you know the smell is from her and not the food.

Now what should I do about Violet?
Violet is apparently too aggressive to be around other hermit crabs.

I'm worried that Violet is going to try to kill Sheldon next.

No, I don't know what started the attack.
I know that Shelby and Sheldon almost never hangout with Violet,
and I now assume that is because of Violet's aggressive behavior.

Are you sure it was an attack? How long have you had Shelby? Has she molted with you yet? I ask because limb loss could be from stress or PPS, not necessarily an attack...unless you witnessed it. I personally would just load their dish up with a variety of foods, heavy on the protein and calcium, and keep a close eye on them. Make sure you have plenty of extra shells too. If Violet is definitely being aggressive I would ISO her with good foods, good shells, proper conditions, and keep her there until she gets her fill....probably until after a successful molt.

Definitely wait until you are totally sure Shelby has passed.

Shelby has molted once in the time that I've had her.

I have had all three of them for six months, Violet and Sheldon are adopted,
and I bought Shelby at a pet store.

I'm sure Violet attacked Shelby, a week before this happened I caught Violet
attacking Shelby, so I separated them.

Shelby passed away, she smelled like rotting fish, and she was limp.

She was the nicest hermit crab,
I will miss her.
