Pale molting crab coming up

I don't know about Aussie's but can answer your question about adding water. You can pour a little at a time along the side of the tank, where the sub meets the glass. I only do about half a cup at a time, but I know there was a moderator who put quite a bit more than that! The water will seep into the substrate without having to mix it up.

No, you can safely pour small amounts along the side where the glass meets the sub, and it will not harm the crabs who are down.

Update: he just changed shells. The new shell is still a bit small but he is a lot happier. Moving around, the only problem now is his leg. Is there anything I could do about it. Would it be hurting him? And do you think it's safe to let him back with the others?
