Just checked on her. She moved!!!
Oh! And there seems to be more room in there so she must be munching on exo.

I bought 4 tubs today, eggcrate, weedblock, embroidery canvas and of course zipties. What are the pros and cons of using the pvc as well.

No worries Wode, I'd never give up on one of my babies. Image I love them too much. Image I am just dreading what I am going to have to do to save her. I have yet to do a tank change without finding empty shells. Always new guys or bad molts but looking through it all is gonna probably freak me out a bit

The pvc pushes the eggcrate upward, evenly, so the eggcrate flexibility is restricted. The PVC installed evenly and methodically along the perimeter of your tank's base is most important, followed by even distribution of PVC within the area. It also holds everything up so you can see if there's a flood before your sub becomes soggy. You need to drill holes in every piece to drain any water that might collect in each pipe, but it doesnt have to be exact.
If you can find wider pvc couplings that have the same short length, that would probably be best, and save you lots of time. I think the price goes up exponentially, though.

What a relief! She probably thought she found the penthouse of molting caves. Disregarding your stress, she's on a luxury molting vacation! Good to hear she is just molting!

I'm sorry you are going through this, it sounds so stressful!
I hope you will get her (and the molters if you have any) out safe and sound! Good luck :)
Here I thought crabs are kinda clumsy.. But I guess they can go a long way with stubbornness :o

I picked up everything to do it yesterday. A normal false bottom. I hadn't read the post yet about pvc. The tubs for the sand and everything. When I checked last night it looks like she has been busy because her exo is almost gone. That puts me in more of a time crunch. Tonight I am working on the false bottom. I had homework last night after my kids went to bed. My last night of my class. 1 more and I have my first masters degree!!!!! I will be measuring for width when I get the chance. Teaching kindergarten makes things take awhile longer than usual. How long do you think I have. The earliest I can do it would be late Friday I think. I just hope she stays put for me to do that.

Awesome about that master! So you will be Master Crabber?! How exciting! Your first master degree? Are you collecting them, or something??
I think Saturday will be fine. Don't start if it's going to be too late, in order to minimize all your crabs being in ISO.
I've seen a crab take 2 weeks to come up. You might not be able to tell where she is, anymore, but she should be ok for an extra couple of days. I would think she will be ok for a minimum of 2 weeks (wode/calla??).

I thought so too but if she is trapped she can't dig to get the molt smell off and other crabs will think she smells delicious. Th ere are 4 windows near there....

I will be starting a second masters on teaching and psychology. I want to teach in a university. My undergrad is in psych and I love it.

4 windows?? 4 other crabs digging? That is pretty incredible! Just keep a look out and see if you can tell she has hardened. Hopefully she has. If you need to intervene it shouldnt be too hard, considering you know exactly where to dig. If you need to cut through eggcrate you can probably just use pliers and pinch grids together to break them, so you can pinch out enough space to grab someone.

I can see the little jerks Lol! I will whip out the side cuts when the time comes. As soon as I finish my cereal I will snap a few pics of the windows. :)
