Did he fall out, or did he climb out? If he's weak and not moving much, forgo the cup method entirely and just place him in a shell for now. If they get too weak and fall out of their shell it's either a sign of an impending molt, or a sign that the crab is dying.

.

He fell out. How do you place him in a shell? I am scared to touch him.

I checked on him and he was completely out of the shell. I tried again with the same one and he climbed out. So I put him in a new and clean one so we will see

Leave him someplace clean with different cleaned shells and hope he chooses one on his own. If he won't wear one, there's no forcing him, but with luck he'll change his mind and wear one on his own.

He keeps burying his bum in the sand. Not very deep though

I think sharkbait is gone. He's limb and won't move a muscle. But he hasn't started to smell.

I feel like a failure. I only kept him alive for 8 months. I feel like I killed him. I told God to take him away because he was suffering and I couldn't help him. I was making it worse. My poor sharkbait, so healthy when I got him. I killed him.

I was reading through this entire post.. Did he molt twice in a row? It seems like he was molting when this thread started, then the exo was gone, then he dropped a leg, then he was molting again?? And then went streaking?????

I don't think he molted again. I think he was just Extremely stressed and he was really weak so he wasn't moving or doing anything

How is Sharkbait doing? Don't feel badly, you are trying to do what you can for him!
Have you tried giving some hard-boiled egg with some shell? I put a little out last night and it was ALL GONE this morning, though the shell was mostly left and dragged off the food dish...

Try to be calm and send happy vibes his way. Remember to smile! {{{hugs}}} I'm hoping he makes it! *fingers crossed*

He's defiantly gone. Burial service at sea today.

It's okay. I'm holding up a lot better than I thought I would. He's in a much better place.
