It'd probably be more stressful for her to go on the vacation with you, and she shouldn't be left alone with no one to take care of her for such a long time. I'm sorry, but I honestly kind of think it might be better for you to find a new home for Eo. If someone younger is going to have a pet, they need to have the full support of their parents to make sure the pet gets the care it needs. It doesn't sound like you have that. If they don't want you to get another crab, there's not a good way to convince or force them into letting you get one. And if you can't keep temperatures stable due to the location of the tank & not being able to relocate the tank (which you've still not said a word about, so I'm guessing that means it's not an option), then you shouldn't get another crab anyway, or it may end up having issues like Eo as well.

I know you really love Eo, but sometimes when we love our pets, we have to do what's best for them even if it doesn't make us happy. I really think it'd be a good idea for you to see if there are any other crab owners in your area on here who would be willing to adopt Eo.

I am certainly not giving Eo away. I have had her for 11 months and with some persuasion I will be able to give her a friend. The tank is 83 degrees and it is fine. Also my mom's friend is watching the crab. I haven't said a word about the moving of the tank because it has already moved and I forgot to tell you. My mom's friend who is watching the frog is also watching the crab. It is fine and I will not give Eo away.

By the way this is the first issue I have had with Eo in almost a year. She is usually happy and healthy and if you have read my other posts you will have seen that the temp has gone way up and I have it under control. I will be getting her a friend and I take better care of Eo then half of the people on this site. I just freak out and over exaggerate things when I get worried. :)

Oh and my family fully supports Eo, I have had floods and her running out of shells. They pay for all of my supplies and Even made Eo a counter top so her sand doesn't get everywhere. They fully support me moving Eo and they will do anything to make Eo and I happy. And so you know I have a tendency to over exaggerate situations. Send your good energies toward Eo and nobody around where I live could take even half as good of care as I do of my baby. Every body joined this website because they have had a problem with a crab sometime or another. I bet everyone reading this has and Eo just hasn't passed on yet because I take such good care of her. I bought her three heaters and found a way to instal them in a way that works. I gone out and gotten Eo things to make this time more comfortable. I think that I am a very suitable owner for Eo and this cold spell- heater dying season caught me off guard and got to Eo now that I have it

under control Eo is getting better and healthier. I am a very substantial owner for Eo and I give her all I can and more. So I am defenetly not giving Eo away for nobody could take as good of care of Eo as I can. Keep sending good energies her way

When you exaggerate about the health of your crab and how bad it is, you may as well lied to us. We worry with you, hurt with you and when a crab is lost, we cry with you. Ranting on about how you are such a great owner when someone was very delicately suggesting it may be time to rehome Eo until your situation is under control doesn't help the situation. A simple post saying you don't want to give Eo away and that you are working with your parents to remedy the situation would have been sufficient. We all understand that you love Eo but what was said was not out of line considering you led us all to believe things were worse than they were due to exaggeration. Take a breath, regroup and then come back to your post. Reread it and try to see there was no reason to fly off the handle. You do not have to explain to us why you want to keep her or make excuses. Just love her and take good care of her. We at the HCA will always be here to help.

To say that you take better care of your crab than half of the people on this site is rude and disrespectful. I know I don't appreciate it nor will anyone else.

I'm sorry I upset you. As you said, you exaggerated the situation (though I can understand that may not have been intentional - it's scary when a pet isn't feeling well), which makes us think it's worse than it is. If the situation was as bad as it sounded, then Eo's health would be in danger, hence my post. You also left out important information, such as moving her tank, and that you had someone to check in on her while you were gone. Unfortunately, a lot of people think it's totally fine to leave animals alone, even for extended periods like 10 days. I had no way of knowing that you weren't going to do that.

I'm glad that you have someone to check on her. I still think it'd be a good idea to make sure her night temps are a little higher too, especially since crabs are more active at night, but it sounds like her temperatures are safe now, which is great. Again, I'm sorry for upsetting you, but my concern was simply for Eo's health, so I felt I had to say something, based on the information we had.

(And I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner - getting ready to move tomorrow & of course our internet went out last night...I'm half wondering if someone shot a firework into the internet cables or something!)
