HCA: Hermit Crab Association

I just returned from Belize and have a stowaway in my bag. At first I thought he was a hermit crab and spend over $150 for a set up for him. After a lot of googling on care i realized I may have a marine hermit crab. If thats the case he will need a much more extravagant set up which i do not have the time, money, space, or patience for. After 2 plane trips in a purse I fear "Marty" may die here in a set up for a land crab and want him to go to a good home. I am located in Forest Hills, Queens in NY PLEASE HELP MARTY!!!

It looks like a marine hermit crab. Do you have a pet store nearby with a saltwater setup? Sometimes they take them in.

yes. i was thinking that might be the best option. theyre very nice there. but i will miss him - ive fallen in love already! and i bought a whole set up for a land crab

Sounds like you'll need to pick up a few land crabs while you're dropping off the marine crab...can't let that set-up go to waste !

He is a cutie though! If I knew anything about saltwater aquariums, I would totally have some MHC's
