Re: No claw
How long have you had him? If he's new he probably has pps (post purchase syndrom). If he is new I recommend you handle him as little as possible, and try to keep him as stress free as you can. You might should consider isolating him if you can, just until he molts. Plenty of crabs loose claws or legs (or even eyes) and just grow them back when they go down to molt. Also, just before you today someone posted a short, but informative thread almost identical to this. It has a few replies from some pretty knowledgeable people, you can read that here. Best of luck :D
2 small PPs: Leonardo, Biscuit
3 medium to large PPs: Kermit Rocketson, Lulu, Strawberry (named because he is red, not actually a straw)
1 Neon Tetra: Stevie. 1 Crawfish: Larry
R.I.P. Larry, Crabby, and Hermie (all PPs) O'mally (Neon Tetra) John Cena(Crawfish)

Re: No claw
He will not die unless he continues loosing limbs. Try to not pick him up at all because that will cause more stress to him.

Click here for our official article on Post Purchase Syndrome (PPS for short.)
The main thing to do for him is to keep his conditions good, offer healthy and high-energy foods, and keeps his stress level as low as possible. He can re-grow his pincher, and once he goes through a successful molt in captivity the threat of PPS goes away.
Good luck and keep us updated!

Re: No claw
Digging down is good. Sounds like he's had a stressful few months and is probably in need of a molt.

Re: No claw
Digging and burying is an essential and normal part of a land hermit crab's life. It's just something that they have to do. I know it is worrisome at first but the longer you have them, the more you get used to it. Our first crab was under for almost 3 months and we'd just about given up on ever seeing him again.mrsboobae2013 wrote:I hope he is alright skeet just seems to wonder around with all the other crabs buried maybe she is the only happy one
